The Ministry of Health has addressed public concerns regarding the Nipah virus, clarifying that there is currently no international alert about the virus from either the World Health Organization (WHO) or the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

According to the Ministry, outbreaks of the Nipah virus have so far been limited to Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore. As a result, preventive recommendations are primarily aimed at people living in or planning to travel to these countries.

Health authorities in Costa Rica continue to monitor any developments related to the Nipah virus. The Ministry advises individuals experiencing symptoms associated with this disease or those who have questions about it to seek timely medical attention.

“The Ministry of Health reiterates also the importance of informing oneself only through official channels in order to avoid misinformation and the spread of unverified information,” stated the agency.

The Ministry’s statement comes as part of its ongoing effort to keep citizens informed and prepared for potential health risks.
