The Ministry of Health has issued a warning regarding the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in frozen chicken tacos from the brand DON TACO. The affected product is from lot 240725, with sanitary registration A-CR-15-05841, as indicated on the packaging.
According to microbiological analysis conducted by the National Reference Center for Food Microbiological Safety at the Costa Rican Institute for Research and Teaching in Nutrition and Health (CRIMA-INCIENSA), this specific lot tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. As a result, it does not comply with the parameters established by the Central American Technical Regulation on Microbiological Criteria for Food Safety RTCA 67.04.50:17, specifically for refrigerated or frozen prepared foods.
The contamination was identified through sampling carried out in supermarkets across the country as part of ongoing food safety controls by the Ministry of Health to ensure compliance with current regulations.
Authorities have begun working to remove the contaminated batch from the market in coordination with sampling points and the manufacturer.
“The Ministry of Health, through the Directorate of Regulation of Products of Interest and Sanitary Risk, alerts the general population about the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in frozen chicken tacos from the brand DON TACO,” stated officials. “It should be noted that work is already underway to withdraw the contaminated batch from the market in coordination with sampling points and the manufacturer.”
Consumers are advised to check their products and avoid consuming items from this specific lot.
