The Ministry of Health has issued a warning regarding the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Super Tacos de Carne from the Don Taco brand. The affected product is from lot 200825, with sanitary registration A-CR-15-05841 and an expiration date of August 18, 2026.
According to microbiological analyses conducted by the National Reference Center for Microbiological Food Safety at the Costa Rican Institute for Research and Teaching in Nutrition and Health (CRIMA-INCIENSA), this batch tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The findings indicate that it does not meet the standards set out in the Central American Technical Regulation on Microbiological Criteria for Food Safety RTCA 67.04.50:17, specifically for refrigerated or frozen prepared foods.
The contamination was discovered during routine sampling in supermarkets as part of ongoing food safety monitoring by the Ministry of Health. The purpose of these checks is to ensure compliance with current food safety regulations.
Efforts are underway to remove the contaminated batch from stores, working in coordination with retailers and the manufacturer.
“The Ministry of Health, through the Directorate for Regulation of Products of Interest and Sanitary Risk, alerts the general population about the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Super Tacos de Carne from Don Taco,” stated health officials.
