The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on Apr. 30 that the rehabilitation work on the bridge over the Tárcoles River is entering its final phase, with installation of expansion joints scheduled for next week. These components will allow the structure to expand and contract due to temperature changes and traffic loads.

Authorities from the Executive Unit said vehicle passage will remain open at all times, limited to one lane from Monday to Friday, while normal two-lane traffic will be restored on Saturdays and Sundays. From 6:00 a.m. Monday, May 4 until 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 8, and again from 6:00 a.m. Monday, May 11 until 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 15, traffic across the bridge will be regulated to one lane around the clock during weekdays.

The Ministry urged road users to consider these regulated periods in order to avoid delays in their travel plans. The statement also called on drivers to respect signage, follow flaggers’ instructions, and observe a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour in the work zone.

According to officials, rehabilitation progress has reached approximately eighty-eight percent so far. The project is part of the Emergency Program for Comprehensive and Resilient Infrastructure Reconstruction (PROERI) with funding totaling $6,731,092.03 provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

The completion of this project is expected to improve safety and reliability for motorists using Route National Thirty-Four.
