A head-on collision between a motorcycle and a trailer resulted in the death of a woman and left a young man with serious injuries on March 24. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in the Campo 2 community, located in Cariari de PococĂ, LimĂłn.

Authorities said that preliminary reports suggest the crash was caused by an apparent lane invasion, leading to a violent impact between the motorcycle carrying two people and the trailer traveling in the opposite direction.

Emergency responders from the Costa Rican Red Cross arrived at the scene and confirmed that a woman died at the site. A 24-year-old man was transported urgently to receive medical attention for multiple leg fractures as well as injuries to his pelvis and abdomen.

Following the accident, authorities closed off the road between Campo 2 and Llano Bonito while emergency services responded to those involved and conducted necessary procedures related to the incident.

Witnesses told police that one of those affected had arrived in Costa Rica about ten days earlier from Nicaragua. The individual was reportedly returning to their rented apartment after working on private farmland harvesting cassava when the accident took place.
