More than 12,700 primary and secondary students are participating in the national stage of the Festival Estudiantil de las Artes (FEA), held at Parque Diversiones. The event for primary students takes place from November 24 to 26, while secondary students, young adults from CINDEAS, IPEC, night schools, open education projects, and special education centers will participate from December 2 to 4.
The FEA aims to support the comprehensive development of students through art by providing spaces that encourage creativity, sensitivity, critical thinking, and positive social interaction. According to organizers, reaching the national stage is an achievement for these students after advancing through institutional, circuital, and regional levels.
“This is a space where children, youth, and adults from the country’s 27 Regional Education Directorates come together. This allows for a rich dialogue between different realities, traditions, and artistic expressions,” organizers stated.
Participants will showcase their talents in more than 50 artistic disciplines across four main areas: Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Musical Arts, and Visual Arts.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of this educational and cultural initiative. Over five decades, FEA has played a significant role in shaping generations of Costa Ricans through art-based education.
The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) has also launched an informational campaign titled “What you need to know about private education,” which provides clear guidance on important aspects affecting private educational institutions’ management.
