RECOPE, the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery, recently shared updates on its official Twitter account regarding infrastructure improvements and tariff adjustments.

On September 10, 2025, RECOPE announced upgrades to its fire prevention systems at pier 5.1. The company stated: “Esta Administración lo hizo posible Recope moderniza el sistema contra incendios en el muelle 5.1: Nuevas tuberías, hidrantes de última generación y tecnología de espuma que protege vidas, infraestructura y ambiente. Un paso firme hacia la seguridad y energética del país.”

Two days later, on September 12, 2025, RECOPE reported further efforts to improve safety measures across its facilities. The company posted: “Esta Administración lo hizo posible En Recope evaluamos todos nuestros sistemas de protección contra descargas atmosféricas para proteger a nuestra gente, la infraestructura y la seguridad energética de Costa Rica. #PlanRescate #MoviendoCR #Recope”

Most recently, on September 13, 2025, RECOPE communicated developments related to fuel tariffs in Costa Rica: “Recope entrega información a Aresep para nuevo ajuste tarifario: Diésel y gas bajarían, mientras gasolinas subirían La noticia completa aquí: https://t.co/Ejy8SjFdEe #Recope” The announcement indicates that diesel and gas prices may decrease while gasoline prices are expected to rise as part of a new rate adjustment proposal submitted to ARESEP (the Public Services Regulatory Authority).

As the state-owned enterprise responsible for importing and distributing petroleum products in Costa Rica, RECOPE plays a key role in the country’s energy infrastructure and pricing policies. Periodic reviews of tariffs are overseen by ARESEP to reflect changes in international oil markets and domestic operating costs.
