The General Directorate of Road Education (DGEV) has issued a warning to individuals preparing for the theoretical driving test. The agency cautions against purchasing materials advertised on social media that claim to be the new official manual or based on it, stating that this information is false because the new manuals are not yet available.

“It is very important for users to understand that the new manuals have not been released for sale. When they become available, this will be communicated through MOPT’s official channels. Therefore, it is false that there are people selling the new manuals or material based on them,” said Sindy Coto, Director of Road Education.

Coto also clarified that each new manual will cost ¢3,500 and will include practice questions, making it unnecessary to buy unofficial questionnaires or materials.

“The only thing a person needs to prepare for the theoretical test is the manual for their respective exam. We urge everyone to invest only in the official manual, which now includes practice questions, and not in unofficial material that could even cause confusion,” explained Coto.

According to DGEV estimates, the new manuals are expected to go on sale by February 2 at the latest. Their use in testing will begin March 2. Until February 27, theoretical tests will continue without changes.

The updated manuals were developed with the aim of providing more precise training and evaluation tailored to whether a person seeks a license for an automobile or motorcycle. This approach aims to better assess essential skills and knowledge.

To ensure an orderly transition, those who pass their theoretical test before February 27, 2026 can register for practical vehicle or motorcycle exams until December 31, 2026 without needing another theory test. If someone passes the theory exam before February 27 but does not take their practical test by December 31, they will retain approval of their theory exam only for automobiles.
