The incident occurred around 8:54 p.m., approximately 75 meters west of the Evangelio Completo church. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots. Preliminary information from authorities indicates that several individuals dressed in dark clothing arrived at the scene on motorcycles. They drew pistols and fired repeatedly at two young men who were inside a house.

Witnesses said they saw several motorcycles leaving the area quickly after the shots were fired.

Police officers from Costa Rica’s Fuerza Pública responded to the scene with units 4048 and 3815, assisted by the Operational Support Group (GAO). When they arrived, they found two unconscious men. One showed no apparent vital signs, while the other was still breathing but had severe gunshot wounds.

Paramedics from Cruz Roja Costarricense arrived with units 1781 and 1677 and confirmed that one of the men had died at the scene. The other victim had at least two gunshot wounds and was transported in critical condition to Batán clinic.

The wounded man remains under police custody while receiving medical care. Authorities are monitoring his condition for a possible transfer to Tony Facio Hospital for specialized treatment.

Police continue to guard the crime scene in Carrandí district as they await agents from the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), who will be responsible for processing evidence and investigating the case.

Authorities stated that the shooting took place about 700 meters from the local police station. As of now, neither the identities of those involved nor a motive for the attack have been disclosed.
