El Chinamo, a popular program from Teletica, aired its second Chinaoke parody of 2025 on Sunday. The segment took a different direction than many viewers expected after last year’s successful parodies and the first video of this season, which focused on the crisis in Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Education.

The Chinaoke parodies, led by Melany Mora and James Meneses, are known for their critical take on social issues and political figures. However, this latest installment shifted focus away from politics and social commentary to address another topic that has captured national attention: Costa Rica’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Titled “No hay nada más difícil que ganarle a Haití,” the parody adapts Marco Antonio Solís’s song “Si no te hubieras ido” to criticize the Costa Rican Football Federation and the national team. The lyrics include: “Maldita Fedefut. Fuimos matagigantes y ahora… No hay nada más difícil que ganarle a Haití. Sufrimos como siempre y sin clasificar. El frío de mi cuerpo pregunta por (Bryan) Ruiz y Keylor se nos va. Recuerdo cuando fuimos el país más feliz.”

Mauricio “el Chunche” Montero, a well-known figure in Costa Rican football, made a special appearance in the video. He is shown sitting in the stands looking disappointed and tells the players, “Manda huevo, maes.” Announcer Jair Cruz also participated by playing an angry fan who directs an insult at “Maroto,” likely referring to Osael Maroto, president of the football federation.

Despite moving away from its usual political satire, the segment maintained its characteristic humor.
