Starting Monday, September 22 at 5:00 a.m., traffic along the Circunvalación highway near Hatillo 6 will be diverted to side roads for approximately five months. This adjustment is due to excavation work beginning for the main structure, walls, and approach fills of a new underpass being constructed in this section of National Route 39.

The National Road Council (CONAVI) is overseeing these works. As part of safety measures for the project, traffic lights have been installed in the area to allow pedestrians to cross safely.

In addition to the underpass construction, CONAVI is also investing in replacing stormwater and sanitary sewer systems in Hatillo 6. The organization states that this will provide significant benefits for local residents.

The new underpass will include improved sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and lighting. These enhancements are made possible through coordination with the Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL).

The project currently stands at 21% completion and involves an investment by CONAVI of approximately ₡4.27 billion.

Luis Amador Jiménez from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport commented on the progress: “El cambio obedece a que el CONAVI iniciará la excavación para la construcción del tronco principal, muros y rellenos de aproximación del paso a desnivel que se construye en este sector de la RN 39.”
