The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on March 20 that traffic regulations will be implemented on Sunday, March 22, near the entrance to the canton of Grecia along National Route 1, Bernardo Soto. The measures are part of ongoing construction for a new two-level interchange designed to connect Grecia directly with the highway.

According to information from the project’s Executive Unit, traffic will be regulated from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., approximately 300 meters east of the Grecia entrance. The temporary changes are necessary to demolish an irrigation channel structure that crosses the route within the project area. Removing this structure is required for construction work to continue.

Flaggers and signaling devices will be present at the site to guide drivers through the affected area. Authorities ask motorists to respect the maximum speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour in the project zone.

The interchange project aims to improve connectivity by eliminating the current at-grade crossing at Grecia’s main entrance and replacing it with ramps that allow direct communication between both roads. Additional features include sidewalks, shoulders with curbs and gutters, as well as green areas.

The total investment for this project is $8,890,403.41, funded through a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank.
