Two seriously injured in accident outside Pedregal during Picnic festival

Two people were seriously injured on March 22 after being struck by a vehicle outside the Centro de Eventos Pedregal in Belén de Heredia, where the Picnic music festival was taking place.

The incident occurred at 9:37 p.m. near the entrance to the event center while thousands attended the ongoing festival. The Costa Rican Red Cross confirmed that one of the victims was transported in critical condition and the other in urgent condition to Hospital San Vicente de Paul in Heredia province.

The music festival featured performances from international artists, including Christina Aguilera, with Mexican singer Christian Nodal scheduled to close out the evening. The accident happened while the event was still underway.

Authorities have not yet released details about how the incident occurred or identified those involved.

The situation remains under investigation as officials work to determine what led to the accident.
