The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on April 10 that horizontal road marking work will begin on National Route 32 starting Monday, April 13. The project will require a full closure from the Zurquí tunnel toward Río Sucio.

After completing this section, authorities said there will be a partial closure between the Zurquí tunnel and the toll station. According to the National Road Council (CONAVI), work is scheduled daily from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Officials say these improvements are intended to increase road safety along this key route to the Caribbean, especially during the rainy season or in adverse weather conditions.

The planned tasks include painting central and side lines, adding road signage, installing reflectors for better visibility, and placing flexible posts to help guide traffic flow. CONAVI reports an investment of ₡395 million in these efforts and estimates that if weather permits, work should be completed within thirty days.

Authorities recommend that drivers plan ahead by using alternate routes in order to avoid delays caused by these works.
