A young motorcyclist died on Monday afternoon following a collision with a pickup truck in Pital de San Carlos. The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m., about 400 meters south of the local nursing home.
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident may have been caused by an improper overtaking maneuver by the motorcyclist, resulting in a crash with a Toyota pickup truck.
The victim was identified as Aguilar Pérez, 22, a resident of La Comarca de Pital. He was reportedly returning home after finishing work at Finca La Lydia. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the accident.
Emergency personnel from the Red Cross provided initial medical attention and transported Aguilar to the local clinic. However, shortly after his arrival and while preparations were being made to transfer him to Hospital San Carlos, he suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle involved is identified as Morales, who was also returning from work.
Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) agents have begun an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
